Ojomoh named to start for England A against Argentina XV at his home ground
Bath inside centre Max Ojomoh is among eight capped players selected to start for England A against Argentina XV at The Rec on Friday, with Bristol Bears flanker Fitz Harding captaining the side for the second time.
Bath inside centre Max Ojomoh will line up at The Rec on Friday night after being named in England A’s starting XV to face Argentina XV, one of eight capped players in head coach Mark Mapletoft’s matchday 23.
Ojomoh, who made two appearances for the senior England side in 2025, partners Harlequins centre Luke Northmore in midfield. Behind an all-Gloucester half-back pairing of Caolan Englefield and Charlie Atkinson, the back three features wings George Hendy and Noah Caluori alongside full-back Joe Carpenter — who returns to Bath just a week after losing there with Sale Sharks.
Bristol Bears No.8 Fitz Harding captains the side for the second time, having led England A to a 29-25 victory over Spain in Valladolid last November. He is joined in the back row by Ethan Roots and Jack Kenningham, with Joe Batley and Ben Bamber forming the second-row partnership. Archie van der Flier, Jamie Blamire and Afolabi Fasogbon complete the front row.
The inclusion of Newcastle Red Bulls loose forward Max Hicks means all ten Gallagher Premiership clubs are represented in the 23. Hicks, Lucas Friday and Alex O’Driscoll are all in line to make their England A debuts from the bench if called upon.
Mapletoft said the squad had shown “excellent determination in a short training week” and described the programme as playing “an important role in strengthening our pathway, giving players the chance to make a difference in an England shirt while continuing their development in a high-performance environment.”
On Harding’s captaincy, Mapletoft added: “He has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities, sets high standards for those around him, and is a respected figure who brings the group together both on and off the field.”
