Nuno Mendes ruled out against Barcelona, Akliouche also uncertain for PSG
Injured to the thigh during PSG's victory at Strasbourg, Nuno Mendes is expected to miss the Champions League clash against FC Barcelona on Tuesday. Akliouche, who suffered an ankle injury, is also uncertain.
Nuno Mendes will likely not travel to Barcelona on Tuesday evening for the Champions League match. The Portuguese left-back, injured to the thigh during PSG’s victory at Strasbourg (1-3) on Saturday, is suffering from a muscle injury that should force him to declare himself unavailable, according to Le Parisien.
The news is a blow for Luis Enrique, who would lose one of his undisputed starters against Lamine Yamal. The 22-year-old player left the Meinau pitch limping, raising fears for the double-legged tie against Barcelona.
Maghnes Akliouche is also in doubt. The PSG winger was the victim of a heavy tackle from a Strasbourg defender and is suffering from an ankle injury. The indications after the match were not encouraging, but no official information had emerged on Sunday regarding the severity of his injury.
Both players underwent medical examinations on Sunday morning at the PSG Campus. The club is expected to issue an official medical update during the day or on Monday, 48 hours before a fixture that is already shaping up to be decisive in the knockout stage of the Champions League.
