Nicky Butt doubles down on Osimhen push as Saha claims striker is waiting for United offer

Two Manchester United legends are applying public pressure on the club to sign Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, with Nicky Butt repeating his case for a move and Louis Saha going further by claiming the 27-year-old Nigeria international is personally waiting for an offer.

Butt, speaking to Midnite, argued that Osimhen represents a realistic and well-suited addition to Michael Carrick’s squad. “Osimhen would be gettable, I think,” the former midfielder said. “I’m not saying he’s a superstar that would jump straight into the XI. You’ve only got to speak about players that are gettable. No point talking about the big hitters because you’re not going to get them. So I would be sneakily looking at that guy. And I think physically-wise and pace-wise, he would suit the Premier League.”

Butt had made a similar case earlier in the year, telling Paddy Power in March that Osimhen’s power, pace, and aerial ability made him an ideal fit, particularly with United back in the Champions League. He also suggested that Benjamin Sesko’s experiment at Old Trafford has not yet fully convinced, and that a more experienced option is needed alongside the Slovenian, who is still working his way back to full fitness after missing much of pre-season.

Saha has added weight to the push with a more striking claim. “I know for a fact that Victor Osimhen is a Manchester United fan,” the former France striker told MrGamble. “He loves Man United. I have seen it in his eyes, the impact the club has on him, and he sees the impact he could have on this team.”

Osimhen, who earns a reported £200,000 a week at Galatasaray, was linked with moves to Arsenal and Tottenham during the summer window. United were said to be in the market for striker reinforcements but ultimately held back from making a signing, leaving Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha to share frontline duties during pre-season.

Butt also floated Marcus Rashford as a potential option through the middle, suggesting Cunha and Mbeumo may be better deployed on the flanks. Whether the club acts on any of these recommendations in a future window remains to be seen, but the chorus of former players advocating for Osimhen adds a notable layer of external pressure on United’s recruitment team.
