Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in Al-Nassr’s 5-3 victory over Al-Kholood on Thursday evening in the Saudi Pro League. At 41 years old, the Portuguese forward had not scored three consecutive goals in a single match since May 2024.
Six days after the controversy surrounding his supposed 982nd career goal — a goal awarded by the Saudi Pro League but recorded as an own goal by former Nantes player Andrei Girotto by FIFA — Ronaldo dispelled doubts in the best possible way. His three goals now bring his unofficial career total to 984 goals, sixteen away from the 1,000-goal target he set for himself.
The match also highlighted João Félix, another Portuguese international at Al-Nassr, who provided four assists in this high-intensity offensive encounter.
Since his arrival in Saudi Arabia in winter 2022-23, Ronaldo has maintained a high enough output for the hypothesis of 1,000 goals before the end of the season to remain credible.
