New bodycam footage reveals Poirier challenging officers and cursing fans during Atlanta arrest

Dustin Poirier repeatedly challenged arresting officers to fight and told them his fans could “f*ck” themselves in extended bodycam footage from his June 21 arrest at Atlanta International Airport, newly acquired recordings show. The former interim UFC lightweight champion had been removed from a plane and detained for public drunkenness before the scenes captured in the new footage unfolded.

The initial arrest video, released earlier, showed Poirier behaving aggressively toward gate agents and the responding officer, at one point squaring up and challenging the officer before accepting his arrest. The newly released footage picks up where that left off.

In the extended sequence, Poirier begins in a relatively calm state, even telling the arresting officer he “did a great job.” That composure does not last. Poirier grows agitated and begins referencing prior imprisonment, telling officers he had served time for a second-degree assault charge that was reduced to simple battery. “I don’t give a f*ck about this,” he told them.

As officers escorted him down a hallway toward the airport police station, one warned Poirier that people would see the footage. “Man, fck them, too!” he responded. When an officer pointed out that fans pay money to watch him fight, Poirier replied: “Fck the fans! F*ck you guys!”

He then issued a direct challenge to one of the escorting officers. “Let’s rock one. Y’all free me, and we go one-on-one. Let’s go. Let’s see what happens,” Poirier said shortly before being placed in a holding cell.

The situation escalated further when officers returned to move him. Poirier stepped his handcuffed hands from behind his back to in front of him and continued yelling. When officers attempted to recuff him with his hands behind his back, he again demanded to be released to fight them. “Unlock this shit so I can f*ck y’all up,” he shouted.

Poirier was arrested on a misdemeanour public drunkenness charge. No further legal developments beyond the initial arrest have been reported in the source material.
