Munster Rugby have signed Australian utility back Will Harrison from Japanese side Kintetsu Liners on a one-year deal, the province confirmed.

Harrison, 24, is a left-footed playmaker capable of operating at fly-half, full-back and centre. He captained the Australian Schoolboys and U20s sides, leading the Junior Wallabies to the final of the World Rugby Junior World Championship in 2019, before becoming the youngest player ever to debut for the NSW Waratahs in 2020.

In four seasons with the Waratahs, Harrison accumulated 257 points across 38 Super Rugby appearances before making the move to Japan with Kintetsu Liners in 2024.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining such a proud province,” Harrison said. “From my first conversations with the club, it felt like a place I wanted to be. Munster has a rich history and a passionate supporter base, and it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to be part of that.”

Munster General Manager Ian Costello highlighted Harrison’s left-footedness as a key factor in the recruitment decision. “As a left-footed playmaker we feel he will add more balance to the squad and his ability to play across the backline is a real point of difference,” Costello said.

“Highly regarded from a young age, Will has battled through some challenges. We have been impressed with his character, his dedication, and his ambition to play at the very highest level of the game.”

Harrison’s arrival is part of a broader recruitment push by head coach Clayton McMillan ahead of next season, with former England tighthead prop Kieran Brookes also reported to be closing in on a move to the province.
