McGregor reveals two fights left on UFC deal as return at UFC 329 approaches
Conor McGregor has confirmed he has two bouts remaining on his current UFC contract, with a tentative date already set for his final fight. The Irishman returns against Max Holloway at welterweight on July 11 at UFC 329.
Conor McGregor has disclosed the shape of his remaining UFC commitment, confirming two fights left on his current deal — including a tentatively scheduled date for the final bout — as he prepares to end a four-year absence at UFC 329 on July 11.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, the former two-division champion said he is not entirely satisfied with the gap between those two bookings, though he stopped short of elaborating on the specific timeline. McGregor faces Max Holloway in a welterweight contest at UFC 329, his first Octagon appearance since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
The financial structure of McGregor’s return deal differs from his previous arrangements. Under his prior contract, the Dublin native earned points tied to the UFC’s pay-per-view model. That model has since shifted, with all numbered UFC events now available through a subscription platform, altering how fighters of McGregor’s commercial profile are compensated. McGregor acknowledged the change required compromise from both sides.
“We met in the middle. We got a juicy one,” McGregor said. “Was it what my worth is? Probably not. Was it what they wanted to offer? Definitely not. We met in the middle. I’m a fair operator.”
Despite the concessions, McGregor expressed a clear desire to remain with the promotion beyond his current obligations. “I love the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and I’d love to continue,” he said. “I hope it’s with the UFC. I hope we come to something. I hope I get honored even more. I’m going to prove even more so what I’m about. Let’s see how it goes.”
At 36, McGregor’s UFC 329 clash with Holloway — a former featherweight champion — marks one of the most anticipated returns in recent MMA history. How he performs across his remaining two contracted fights will likely shape the terms of any future deal with the promotion.
