McGregor returns to face Holloway in UFC 329 welterweight headliner on July 11
Conor McGregor makes his long-awaited return to the octagon against old rival Max Holloway in the welterweight main event of UFC 329 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas — only his second UFC poster appearance in five years.
Conor McGregor is finally back on a UFC card. The former two-division champion will headline UFC 329 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas against Max Holloway in a welterweight rematch, with the UFC releasing the official event poster on Friday.
It marks only the second time in five years that McGregor has appeared on a UFC poster. His last scheduled return — a June 2024 bout against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 — was scrapped when McGregor suffered an injury before fight night. Before that, he had been sidelined since breaking his leg in the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, a period that also saw him navigate legal issues and pursue business ventures away from the sport.
Holloway enters the rematch on the back of a difficult outing at UFC 326, where he was dominated on the ground by Charles Oliveira and lost the “BMF” title. The Hawaiian lost a decision to McGregor in their first meeting 13 years ago and will be looking to settle the score when the pair clash during International Fight Week.
The card around the main event is stacked. Benoit Saint Denis meets Paddy Pimblett in what promises to be a high-profile co-main event, while Cory Sandhagen takes on Mario Bautista and Brandon Royval faces Lone’er Kavanagh. Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker is also on the bill against Nikita Krylov, and Olympic gold medallist Gable Steveson makes an appearance against Elisha Ellison.
The full UFC 329 card, with bout order still to be confirmed, is as follows:
