Manchester United’s Champions League campaign will begin at Old Trafford against Sabah on Thursday, 10 September, with the full eight-gameweek schedule now confirmed under manager Michael Carrick.

The fixture list pits United against a varied mix of European opposition, with the standout ties coming against Atletico Madrid in Madrid on 13 October and a home clash with Bayern Munich on 20 January. Both matches represent significant tests of United’s continental ambitions this season.

United travel to Atletico’s Wanda Metropolitano for Gameweek 2 before visiting Serie A side Como at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on 21 October. The home schedule resumes with Roma at Old Trafford on 3 November, followed by a trip to Sporting’s José Alvalade Stadium on 25 November.

RB Leipzig visit Old Trafford in Gameweek 6 on 8 December, and the campaign closes with a trip to Villarreal’s Estadio de la Cerámica on 27 January, sandwiching the Bayern home fixture the week prior.

The full schedule is as follows:

Gameweek 1: Man Utd vs Sabah — Thursday, 10 September, 8pm BST (Old Trafford)

Gameweek 2: Atletico Madrid vs Man Utd — Tuesday, 13 October, 8pm BST (Wanda Metropolitano)

Gameweek 3: Como vs Man Utd — Wednesday, 21 October, 5:45pm BST (Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia)

Gameweek 4: Man Utd vs Roma — Tuesday, 3 November, 8pm GMT (Old Trafford)

Gameweek 5: Sporting vs Man Utd — Wednesday, 25 November, 8pm GMT (José Alvalade Stadium)

Gameweek 6: Man Utd vs RB Leipzig — Tuesday, 8 December, 8pm GMT (Old Trafford)

Gameweek 7: Man Utd vs Bayern Munich — Wednesday, 20 January, 8pm GMT (Old Trafford)

Gameweek 8: Villarreal vs Man Utd — Wednesday, 27 January, 8pm GMT (Estadio de la Cerámica)

The draw gives Carrick’s side a manageable opener before the schedule intensifies with back-to-back away trips in October. How United navigate the winter double-header against Bayern and Villarreal could prove decisive in determining whether they advance from the league phase.
