Man United face £43m asking price for Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi with Dortmund and Barcelona also in pursuit

Manchester United have been quoted approximately £43m by Club Brugge for striker Nicolo Tresoldi, with the Belgian club standing firm on their valuation as the summer transfer deadline approaches.

United are said to have been tracking the 22-year-old on a daily basis after being impressed by his performances in the Belgian Pro League. The extent of their interest has now been tested by Brugge’s price tag, which reflects both Tresoldi’s output and his importance to the club’s long-term plans.

The valuation appears non-negotiable. AS Roma had a £29.9m bid rejected for the striker, suggesting Brugge have no intention of accepting anything below their asking price. United will also need to outmanoeuvre significant competition, with Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Barcelona all linked with the forward.

Tresoldi arrived at the Jan Breydel Stadium last summer from Hanover 96 and wasted little time making an impression. He scored 13 goals in 30 appearances during a breakthrough season that ended with a Belgian league title. He has carried that form into the current campaign, netting in each of his three league outings, including the decisive goal in Brugge’s derby win over Cercle Brugge.

Despite the interest from across Europe, Tresoldi is reported to be settled at Brugge and has no immediate desire to leave, adding another layer of complexity for any potential suitor.

Whether United will commit to a £43m outlay for a striker remains uncertain. The club are understood to prioritise at least one central midfielder and a left-back before the window closes, with Alejandro Balde of Barcelona among those linked as cover for Luke Shaw, who is 31 and entering the final year of his contract.
