Man United close £85m double midfield deal while targeting Summerville from relegated West Ham
Manchester United have agreed deals to sign Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £50m and Atalanta's Ederson for £35m, and have held initial talks with West Ham over winger Crysencio Summerville, their identified top forward target.
Manchester United are on the verge of completing two midfield signings worth a combined £85m and have already opened talks over a third addition, with Crysencio Summerville of West Ham identified as the club’s primary forward target this summer.
United have agreed a £50m deal to bring Andrey Santos from Chelsea to Old Trafford, with the Brazilian expected to become the first new arrival since Michael Carrick was appointed manager on a permanent basis. Alongside Santos, Atalanta midfielder Ederson is also set to join for an initial £35m, with a further £3.8m available in add-ons — a deal that has already been agreed in principle.
With both midfield signings close to completion, United are now turning their attention to strengthening their attack. According to reports, the club have identified Summerville as their number one forward target and have held initial talks with West Ham over a potential transfer. The 24-year-old Netherlands international is valued at around £50m by the Hammers, who were relegated to the Championship at the end of last season.
Summerville is currently on his summer break after representing the Netherlands at the World Cup, where they were eliminated by Morocco in the round of 32. United’s interest in the winger is longstanding, though Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also reported to have entered the race for his signature.
Reports suggest United could use funds raised from the sale of Marcus Rashford to finance a move for Summerville, with the club expected to step up their pursuit once the Santos and Ederson deals are formally concluded.
West Ham have already seen one significant departure following relegation, with Mateus Fernandes joining Tottenham Hotspur for a fee believed to be around £85m.
