Lyon wins at Toulouse with reshuffled XI before Fenerbahçe clash
Lyon began their Ligue 1 season with a 2-0 victory away at Toulouse FC, thanks to goals from Nartey (68') and Fofana (85'), ahead of their Champions League playoff return leg on Wednesday.
Lyon started their Ligue 1 season with a 2-0 win at Toulouse on Saturday evening, despite a dominant first half from TFC against a heavily reshuffled Lyon side.
The Gones made the difference in the second half through Nartey, who opened the scoring in the 68th minute, before Fofana sealed the result at the 85th. A victory achieved with a depleted squad, as OL managed their rotation between two Champions League playoff legs.
This result allows Lyon to approach their Champions League playoff return leg against Fenerbahçe next Wednesday with confidence, a fixture described as crucial for the club’s finances and future.
On Toulouse’s side, the XI fielded by TFC comprised Restes in goal, a four-man defence with Diallo, McKenzie, Nicolaisen and Tapé, a three-man midfield with Schmidt, Casseres Jr and Vignolo, and an attacking trio of Jorgensen, Gboho, Hidalgo.
Lyon for their part opted for Descamps in goal, a defence comprising Athekame, Mata, Bacher and Ouédraogo, a three-man midfield with Bidstrup, De Carvalho and Nartey, and an attacking trio of Boudache, Himbert, Duranville.
