Lyon sign Julien Duranville from Borussia Dortmund for €5m, second transfer in two days
Olympique Lyonnais have officially confirmed the arrival of 20-year-old Belgian winger Julien Duranville from Borussia Dortmund for €5m, marking the club's second summer signing in 48 hours following Danish midfielder Mads Bidstrup's move from RB Salzburg.
Olympique Lyonnais have officially confirmed the transfer of Julien Duranville, a 20-year-old Belgian winger, from Borussia Dortmund. The deal is worth €5m, with up to €3.5m in potential bonuses and a 20% sell-on clause for any future profit. The player has signed a five-year contract until 30 June 2031.
The announcement comes the day after Danish midfielder Mads Bidstrup’s arrival from RB Salzburg for €10.5m (plus €3m in potential bonuses). In the space of two days, Lyon have secured two signings for an initial investment of approximately €15.5m.
Duranville was developed at Anderlecht and already has two caps for the Belgian national team. He spent the second half of last season on loan at FC Basel in Switzerland. His profile as a dynamic winger directly compensates for the departure of Afonso Moreira, who was sold to Bayer Leverkusen for just over €30m.
“I am very happy to join OL. I had extensive discussions with the club’s management before signing here. I immediately felt very positive things and quickly saw myself at this club,” the player said via the club’s official media. He also cited Malick Fofana and Rayan Cherki as sources of inspiration, noting that he is capable of playing on both flanks and will adapt to the coach’s needs.
