Olympique Lyonnais could decide to sell Pavel Sulc before the transfer market closes on September 1st in France. According to L’Équipe, the Rhône-based club is not ruling out selling key players to meet its financial targets.

Arriving in summer 2024 from Viktoria Plzen for €7.5 million, the 25-year-old Czech attacking midfielder quickly established himself as an undisputed starter. His 14 goals and 7 assists across all competitions in his first season have earned him a valuation of €20 million on Transfermarkt, representing a gain of €12.5 million for Lyon. His contract runs until June 30, 2029.

Several English clubs are said to have positioned themselves on the deal, according to the French daily. A sale at this price would give Lyon significant financial breathing room, as the club’s financial difficulties have weighed heavily in recent years.

This potential departure comes in the context of an already busy summer transfer window for Lyon, which has recorded fourteen arrivals, including Mads Bidstrup (€10.5m), Julien Duranville (€5m), Felix Bacher (€4.3m), as well as loans for Loïs Openda and Zachary Athekame. Selling one of its best attacking players would nevertheless be a sporting gamble, just days before the start of the Ligue 1 season.
