Luis Enrique relieved Ballon d'Or is finally over: "I'm very happy it's finished"
At a press conference ahead of PSG's trip to Le Havre, the club's manager summed up his opinion on the 2026 Ballon d'Or, won by Harry Kane, in a single word: "Nothing." Before adding that he was "very happy it's finished."
Luis Enrique did not mince words about the 2026 Ballon d’Or: questioned at a press conference on Thursday, on the eve of PSG’s trip to Le Havre (Matchday 9 of Ligue 1), the Spanish manager summed up his opinion on the trophy won on Monday by Harry Kane in one cutting word — “Nothing” — before letting a few seconds of silence pass.
He then completed his answer with a wry smile: “I’m very happy it’s finished. That’s the most positive thing.” The coach, known for his attachment to the collective rather than individual performances, chose not to elaborate further.
The club’s attitude as a whole had already set the tone during the ceremony. President Nasser al-Khelaïfi had chosen to attend the PSG-OL match (2-0) that was taking place in parallel with the trophy presentation evening in London. The only Paris representative on site was Ousmane Dembélé, the defending champion after his 2025 Ballon d’Or, who took the opportunity to collect the club of the year trophy awarded to PSG.
The race for the Ballon d’Or had dominated football news in recent weeks. Luis Enrique, for his part, clearly prefers to turn the page and focus his squad on upcoming sporting challenges, starting with this trip to Normandy on Friday evening.
