Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 with Stade Rennais on Sunday in Ligue 1’s opening fixture, and Luis Enrique used his post-match press conference to send a clear signal to the club’s hierarchy about the transfer market.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time to an impressive Rennes side, PSG avoided defeat thanks to a Ferran Torres brace, who came on at the restart in place of Ousmane Dembélé, set up twice by Fabian Ruiz. The Spanish manager praised his substitutes’ response: “Ferran Torres wasn’t bad, was he? He scored two goals, but I’m happy with everyone who came on in a very difficult match. We had a lot of difficulty controlling Rennes in the first half. They were good on the counter-attack and scored two wonderful goals.”

Beyond Torres alone, Luis Enrique also highlighted the performances of Mika Godts, Maghnes Akliouche, Fabian Ruiz and Lucas Beraldo as positive elements in a complicated evening. He stressed that internal competition remained his compass: “We’re always looking to find the best players, in every match. It’s harder than last year and that’s our ambition.”

On the transfer market, the manager delivered an unambiguous message: “I think we’ve done very good business and we’re still open to different possibilities. Everyone knows the difficulties a team faces in always winning. And it’s clear we still need to improve.” These comments come as Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, both left out of the squad, are being courted by Liverpool. The summer transfer window closes on Tuesday, September 1st at 8 p.m.
