Liverpool shed £710k weekly wage bill as 12 players depart and Munoz signing confirmed
Liverpool have officially parted ways with 12 players — including Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate — as the club simultaneously confirms the £34.5m signing of Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna.
Liverpool have begun the summer with a sweeping squad overhaul, confirming the departures of 12 players and completing the £34.5m signing of Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna as Andoni Iraola shapes his first full squad at Anfield.
The most prominent exits belong to Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate, all of whom had publicly signalled their departures before their contracts officially expired. Robertson is set to join Tottenham Hotspur, while Konate has signed for Real Madrid. Salah’s next destination remains unconfirmed.
The three high-profile departures alone are estimated to strip roughly £710,000 a week from Liverpool’s wage bill. Salah was believed to be earning £400,000 per week after signing a two-year extension in 2025, Robertson reportedly took home £160,000 a week, and Konate was said to be on £150,000 a week.
Also leaving Anfield are academy graduates Kareem Ahmed, Emmanuel Airoboma, James Balagizi, DJ Bernard, Oakley Cannonier, Josh Davidson, Terence Miles and Jacob Poytress, as well as defender Rhys Williams, who earned recognition for his performances alongside Nat Phillips during Liverpool’s injury-ravaged 2020/21 campaign.
On the incomings side, Liverpool have moved quickly to recruit Munoz, 22, whose release clause at Osasuna facilitated a swift deal. The fee of £34.5m is spread across a six-year contract, equating to approximately £5.75m per year. Munoz previously made two senior appearances for Real Madrid before establishing himself as a full Spain international.
The club had reportedly been tracking Munoz for some time and missed out on Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, who is said to have preferred a move to European champions PSG.
Munoz credited Iraola’s direct approach as a decisive factor in his choice. “Liverpool is an opportunity you can’t miss,” the winger said. “Iraola transmitted his confidence to me, how his team plays. He had an important role when it came to choosing.”
