Liverpool have confirmed the departures of 12 players this summer, with Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate the most prominent names leaving Anfield after the club’s 2024-25 season concluded.

Salah and Robertson said their goodbyes during an emotional final-day draw with Brentford, with head coach Arne Slot substituting both players to allow the crowd to give them separate guards of honour. The Egyptian forward and Scotland captain had been two of the club’s most decorated servants of the modern era.

Konate’s exit carries a different tone. The 27-year-old centre-back departs on a free transfer after Liverpool and the France international failed to agree terms on a new deal. Konate had publicly suggested in April, following the win over Everton, that an extension was close, making the breakdown in negotiations a notable surprise.

Defender Rhys Williams also leaves after 15 years at the club. Williams played a key role as emergency defensive cover under Jurgen Klopp during the 2020-21 campaign and departs with considerable goodwill from supporters.

Among the academy players moving on is Oakley Cannonier, who holds a small but memorable place in Liverpool folklore — he was the ballboy who handed Trent Alexander-Arnold the ball for the famous corner that led to the decisive goal against Barcelona in the 2019 Champions League semi-final.

James Balagizi is another academy prospect departing, while Kyle Kelly, Afolami Onanuga, Oliver O’Connor, Lucas Pitt, Ben Trueman, Matthew Wright, Prince Cisse and Keyrol Figueroa — sons of Premier League cult figures Djibril Cisse and Maynor Figueroa — have been offered new contracts and will remain at the club.
