Laurent Blanc in the frame to succeed Tekke at Trabzonspor
Without a club since his departure from Al-Ittihad nearly a year ago, Laurent Blanc's name is circulating in Turkey, where Trabzonspor is seeking a renowned manager after parting ways with Fatih Tekke in early September.
Laurent Blanc could return to the dugout in Turkey. The French manager, without a position since his departure from Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia nearly a year ago, is among the potential candidates to succeed Fatih Tekke at Trabzonspor.
Tekke was sacked in early September following the club’s elimination in the Europa League play-offs. Huseyin Cimsir is in interim charge while the club’s management seeks a more established manager, according to their stated intentions.
Blanc left Al-Ittihad the day after a 0-2 defeat to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, despite a 2023-2024 season crowned by a league and cup double. Since then, the “President” has not found a new position.
His name began circulating on social network X in the sphere of Trabzonspor supporters. “Laurent Blanc is currently available. He is exactly the kind of quality manager, with weight and experience, who would suit Trabzonspor perfectly,” wrote one user. It remains to be seen whether the club’s executives and the former France national team manager share this mutual interest.
Trabzonspor conducted an ambitious summer transfer window, notably recruiting Mohamed Salah, former Liverpool star, as well as Fabinho, ex-Monaco player.
