Manu Koné could leave AS Roma as early as this summer, with the Roman club setting his price at €55 million according to Gazzetta dello Sport. Several English clubs are in the running, with Manchester United appearing as the most serious contender.

The 25-year-old midfielder significantly raised his profile during the 2026 World Cup, where Didier Deschamps started him four times with the French national team. This international exposure has convinced Roma to seize the opportunity to sell, especially as the club is facing serious financial difficulties and must meet UEFA requirements.

The deal would be particularly advantageous for the Romans: recruited from Borussia Mönchengladbach for around €15 million in the summer of 2024, Koné would generate a profit of approximately €40 million. The sale would also allow the club to offload a salary estimated at €5.2 million gross annually.

Manchester United, very active in this summer transfer window, would be the club most advanced in the matter. Former England international Rio Ferdinand even claimed the transfer would already be done. Koné’s name has been circulating internally alongside that of Eduardo Camavinga, another priority target for the Red Devils.

Despite Manchester United’s strong interest, the player, tied to Roma until 2029, has not yet closed the door to other destinations. Chelsea is notably among the clubs he is monitoring, leaving the situation open to possible bidding wars in the coming weeks.
