Harry Kane presented Peter Crouch with an England legacy cap after the Three Lions’ 3-2 victory over Mexico in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup, with the England men’s national team sharing footage of the moment on Thursday morning.

Crouch, who earned 42 caps for England and appeared at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, received the honour on site in Mexico City. The two strikers shared a warm embrace following the result, which sends England into the quarter-finals.

Kane contributed directly to the win over Mexico with a goal and an assist, continuing a remarkable tournament for the Bayern Munich forward. The former Tottenham captain has scored six goals across England’s five matches, finding the net in four of them and registering braces against Croatia on June 17 and DR Congo on July 1.

England progressed through Group L with a 2-1-0 record before defeating Panama 2-0 in the round of 32 and edging DR Congo 2-1 in the round of 16. They will face Norway in the quarter-finals on July 11 at Miami Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Crouch’s own England career was defined by his aerial ability and consistency in qualifying campaigns — he scored five goals during 2008 Euro qualifying and four in 2010 World Cup qualifying. The 6-foot-7 striker also holds the Premier League record for career header goals, with 53 across 18 seasons in the top flight. His club career included spells at Liverpool, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Portsmouth, Southampton, Norwich City, Burnley, and eight seasons at Stoke City.
