Jack Singleton joins Glasgow Warriors on short-term deal after year-long cardiac recovery
Former England hooker Jack Singleton has signed with Glasgow Warriors on a short-term deal, returning to professional rugby more than a year after suffering a cardiovascular event during Gloucester training in September 2025.
Jack Singleton has returned to professional rugby by joining Glasgow Warriors on a short-term deal, the URC club confirmed, more than a year after the hooker suffered a cardiovascular event during Gloucester training in September 2025.
The 30-year-old has linked up with head coach Franco Smith’s squad at Scotstoun with immediate effect. Gloucester had confirmed in August that Singleton was approaching a return to full training, but he would not be retained at Kingsholm for the 2026/27 campaign.
Singleton, who is Scottish-qualified through his grandparents, will provide cover behind Scotland internationals Gregor Hiddleston and Seb Stephen. The four-cap England international made 75 appearances and scored 20 tries for Gloucester across his career, having previously represented Worcester Warriors and Saracens. He also spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Toulon.
“I couldn’t be more pleased to be back in rugby,” Singleton said. “It’s been a long old year, and for Glasgow to give me this opportunity is something for which I’m incredibly grateful. I’m excited to be in the clear and get back out onto a pitch.”
Singleton added that he had followed Glasgow closely during their Champions Cup run last season. “I watched them beat Toulouse at home where the atmosphere looked incredible,” he said.
Smith explained the practical reasoning behind the signing, pointing to the international commitments that will take Hiddleston and Stephen away from the club. “Jack brings a wealth of top-flight experience into our environment that will benefit us during those periods,” the head coach said. “We are pleased to welcome him and look forward to working closely with him over the coming months.”
Singleton’s arrival comes days before Glasgow begin their latest European campaign.
