Illness forces Bulaid off Contender Series Week 8 card hours before fight night

Ilias Bulaid was ruled out of his featherweight clash with Erick Visconde on Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series Week 8 card after falling ill just hours before the event at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. The promotion confirmed the late withdrawal, cutting Season 10’s Week 8 card from five fights to four.

Bulaid had successfully made weight the previous day, but illness struck before he could make the trip to the venue. The bout has been rescheduled to Week 10, the final week of the season, giving both fighters time to recover and prepare.

Visconde’s coach, Chad George, broke the news publicly before the official announcement, writing: “Wow this is fun. Our opponent pulled out to illness 20 minutes before heading to venue for our DWCS fight. Time to make the drive back to LA.”

Bulaid enters the rescheduled contest as an accomplished kickboxer with crossover MMA experience at Bellator and UAE Warriors. He carries an undefeated 9-0 record with one no-contest, making him one of the more polished prospects on the Contender Series roster this season.

Visconde, a long-time MMA veteran, brings a 17-3 record into the matchup and arrives in strong form after claiming the vacant LFA featherweight title in May. The rescheduled Week 10 bout now carries added significance for both men as they look to earn a UFC contract at the end of the season.
