Ibrahim Mbaye chooses Liverpool over Bayer Leverkusen, personal agreement reached
PSG's 18-year-old Senegalese striker Ibrahim Mbaye has reached a personal agreement with Liverpool on a five-year contract, preferring the Reds to Bayer Leverkusen. The two clubs must now agree on the transfer fee.
Ibrahim Mbaye has chosen Liverpool. The 18-year-old striker, trained at PSG, has reached a personal agreement with the English club on the basis of a five-year contract, while Bayer Leverkusen was also courting him.
The two clubs must now agree on the transfer fee to finalize the deal. Liverpool and PSG have been in discussions for several weeks, and the Mbaye file appears to be the most advanced of the two negotiations currently underway between the two institutions.
The other file linking the two clubs concerns Bradley Barcola. The French international has not wished to extend his contract with PSG and is clearly showing his desire to leave Paris this summer. A new offer from Liverpool is expected in the coming days to try to unlock this second file.
The situation could be accelerated by a move in the opposite direction: Cody Gakpo would be leaving Liverpool, with Tottenham as the likely destination. A departure of the Dutch striker would strengthen the Reds’ need to recruit on the attacking flank, and could push the club to accelerate on Barcola after securing Mbaye.
