Without Ronaldo, Portugal defeats Denmark (2-4) and claims third consecutive win
Deprived of Cristiano Ronaldo, who left in conflict with coach Jorge Jesus, Portugal dominated Denmark 4-2 on Thursday evening in the Nations League, with goals from Cancelo, Gonçalo Ramos, Vitinha and Joao Félix.
Portugal signed its third victory in three Nations League matches by defeating Denmark 4-2 on Thursday, October 1st, without Cristiano Ronaldo, who was excluded from the squad following a conflict with coach Jorge Jesus.
Starting up front, Gonçalo Ramos was the standout player of the first half. The former PSG striker first provided an assist for Cancelo, who opened the scoring in the 13th minute, before finding the back of the net himself in the 25th. Between these two goals, Damsgaard had equalized for the Danes (23rd).
After the break, Hojlund equalized again with a goal celebrated in Ronaldo’s manner (53rd), adding a symbolic touch to an evening already marked by the absence of the Portuguese captain. But Portugal quickly regained control thanks to a header from Paris midfielder Vitinha (67th), who scored his first international goal. Coming on as a substitute, Joao Félix sealed the victory in the 87th minute.
This win consolidates Portugal’s lead in its group. To close this international window, the Portuguese will host Norway, while Denmark will travel to Wales.
