Uli Hoeness has put an end to speculation about Michael Olise’s future. Questioned by Welt am Sonntag on the sidelines of the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Bayern Munich’s honorary president displayed complete serenity regarding the French winger, despite being linked with Real Madrid during the last summer transfer window.

“Michael has a contract with us until 2029. So we’re not thinking about that for now,” Hoeness said, before evoking the prospect of a contract extension. “We’ll talk to him about extending his contract during the season. If he doesn’t want to at that point, we’ll simply wait and see what happens in 2029. I’m not worried at all.”

Arrived from Crystal Palace in summer 2024, the 22-year-old Olise quickly established himself as one of the most influential attacking elements of the Munich project. His rapid progression had fuelled rumours of Real Madrid’s interest, who will now have to wait — at least until summer 2025, or even longer if an extension were to materialise.

Bayern, for its part, does not seem in a hurry to open negotiations. The club’s management prefers to let the season unfold before broaching the subject with the player, an approach that reflects the club’s confidence in the relationship forged with the French international. The contract issue could nevertheless become one of the sensitive matters of the coming winter or spring.
