Hamed Junior Traoré leaves OM after one year, loaned to Genoa with purchase option
Olympique de Marseille and Genoa have reached an agreement for the loan of Ivorian winger Hamed Junior Traoré, with a purchase option exceeding €8 million, according to Foot Mercato.
Olympique de Marseille is set to part ways with Hamed Junior Traoré, just one year after his arrival at the club. According to Foot Mercato, the Marseille club and Genoa have reached an agreement for the loan of Ivorian left winger, with a purchase option exceeding €8 million.
Pressured to generate liquidity by the DNCG, which has decided to cap the club’s wage bill and transfer fees, OM is multiplying departures this summer. Traoré, 26, will have played only 19 matches in Marseille colours across all competitions, with a record of 3 goals and 2 assists.
For the Ivorian international, this transfer marks a return to Italy, a country where he built most of his career. Trained and launched at Empoli between 2017 and 2019, he then joined Sassuolo, where he established himself as one of Serie A’s most promising wingers between 2019 and 2023, before a spell at Naples in 2024. It was after this Neapolitan experience that he joined Auxerre, then Marseille last summer.
This departure should be followed by the more lucrative one of Mason Greenwood. The English striker, courted by Atlético Madrid and Fenerbahçe, could bring around €40 million excluding bonuses to Marseille, a sum that would constitute the club’s main financial lever in this constrained summer transfer window.
