World Champion and Extended at PSG, Fabian Ruiz Dreams of Finishing Career at Betis

Fabian Ruiz has opened the door to a return to Real Betis at the end of his career, while confirming his current commitment to Paris Saint-Germain. The Spanish midfielder spoke in a press conference with the national team after an exceptional summer.

The 29-year-old player experienced an extraordinary 2024-2025 season: a second Champions League title with PSG, then World Cup glory in 2026 with Spain, at the expense of Argentina. This double places him among the favorites for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, whose ceremony is scheduled for October 26 in London.

On the contractual front, Ruiz is tied to PSG until June 2028, with an option that could extend his Paris adventure until June 2029. Despite this security, the Andalusian has not hidden his attachment to his beloved club. “I am a Betis supporter, everyone knows that. I would like to finish my career here, it is not the moment, but it will surely happen in the future,” he declared.

This return to his roots therefore remains a distant prospect. Just a few months ago, Ruiz claimed to feel fully fulfilled in Paris under Luis Enrique’s management. “I am very happy with this season and what I have accomplished; the fact of feeling important, both at PSG and in the national team, means a lot to me,” he confided to Spanish sports daily AS.

The Betis matter is therefore not on the agenda, but Fabian Ruiz has at least publicly laid the groundwork for a return that, ultimately, seems inevitable.
