Olympique de Marseille is preparing to finalize two significant departures in mid-July: Mason Greenwood to Fenerbahçe and Hamed Junior Traoré to Genoa, two operations that would allow the club to boost its coffers and ease a wage bill closely monitored by the DNCG since late June.

According to RMC, Greenwood is set to sign with the Turkish club for four years, with a salary estimated at €10 million net per season. The former Manchester United attacker, who arrived at Marseille on loan before joining permanently, was absent from training on Friday and Monday last week, having obtained permission from the board to consider his future.

As for Traoré, the deal is even more advanced. Arriving last summer from Bournemouth on a loan with a quasi-automatic purchase option of €7.5 million, the 26-year-old Ivorian international never managed to convince Marseille’s coaching staff. A thigh injury sustained as early as September had sidelined him until January, and his six Ligue 1 starts were not enough to reverse the trend.

According to L’Équipe, Marseille and Genoa have agreed on a loan with a purchase option valued at €8 million. Gianluca Di Marzio released a video showing the player arriving in Genoa on Monday to finalize his deal; his medical is scheduled for Tuesday.

These two departures are part of a cost-cutting operation acknowledged by Marseille’s management, who had promised the DNCG they would reduce their wage bill following an ambitious summer transfer window.
