FC Barcelona officially announced on Tuesday the signing of Gabriel Jesus, a 29-year-old Brazilian striker from Arsenal. The contract runs until 2029, making the player the fourth professional club of his career after Palmeiras, Manchester City and the Gunners.

The transfer fee is estimated at €10 million, plus up to €4 million in bonuses. A deal completed in the final hours of the summer transfer window, confirming information that had been circulating for several days.

Gabriel Jesus himself acknowledged that he made a financial sacrifice to join the Catalan club. “I accepted a pay cut, but for me, what matters is being able to play for Barcelona. It’s an opportunity I wasn’t expecting a month ago,” he said. The striker added: “I really wanted to be here, it’s a real opportunity.”

Formed at Palmeiras, Jesus joined Manchester City in 2017 before signing with Arsenal in the summer of 2022. His time with the London club was marked by recurring injuries that limited his consistency. Barcelona are betting on a revival of his career in blaugrana colours.
