Olympique de Marseille host Le Havre this Sunday at 17:15 at the Vélodrome in matchday eight of Ligue 1, with a squad missing four players. Bruno Genesio will have to manage without Derek Cornelius, Faris Moumbagna, Alexi Koum and Ibrahim Gomis.

Cornelius’s situation is the most concerning: the centre-back has been sidelined for several weeks due to a hip injury and his unavailability is expected to extend for several more months. The other three absences are technical choices, with Moumbagna, Koum and Gomis simply not selected by the Marseille coach.

Another notable absence: Antoine Valero, eighteen years old, is not in the squad despite his first appearance in Ligue Europa last Thursday against Sturm Graz. The young player will therefore not be asked to play two matches in the space of a few days.

Among the twenty-two called up, Igor Paixao, Amine Gouiri and Neal Maupay are in attack. In midfield, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Angel Gomes are present, while the defence notably includes Nayef Aguerd, CJ Egan-Riley and Timothy Weah.

OM approach this match in a contrasting context: after two consecutive away victories — at Troyes (0-2) then at Angers (2-5) — the Phocaeans come off a defeat conceded Thursday in Ligue Europa against Austrian club Sturm Graz (1-0). Genesio is targeting a third consecutive league victory against an opponent considered accessible.
