Ferrari honours Schumacher's seven titles with special race suits for Hamilton and Leclerc at Monza

Ferrari will honour Michael Schumacher’s legacy at the Italian Grand Prix by dressing Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in specially designed race suits at Monza, with the team dedicating the entire weekend — scheduled for 5-7 September — to the seven-time world champion’s impact on the Scuderia.

The one-off suits retain Ferrari’s iconic red but add white stripes down the front, along the arms and across the shoulders. Seven stars on the upper back represent each of Schumacher’s championship titles, rendered in the same style the German driver used in his own helmet designs. His personal logo also appears on the hip of each suit.

The tribute comes as Ferrari arrives at its home circuit under pressure. Hamilton and Leclerc finished fourth and fifth at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, a result accompanied by frustrated radio exchanges between Hamilton and the pit wall. The team sits second in the constructors’ championship with 338 points, 87 adrift of leaders Mercedes.

Despite the difficult weekend in the Netherlands, both drivers expressed anticipation for Monza. “I’m excited for Monza, even though on paper it doesn’t look like the best track for us,” Leclerc said. “But for sure, for how special Monza is for us, I’m looking forward to it.”

Hamilton acknowledged the gap to the front but pointed to the bigger picture. “We’re still second in the constructors’ championship. We’ve got a lot of positives to take from this first half. The next ones, we really need to turn up the heat if we’re going to have any chance of beating these guys.”

Schumacher won five of his seven drivers’ titles with Ferrari between 2000 and 2004, a period widely regarded as the most dominant in the team’s history. The Monza tribute marks one of the most visible gestures the team has made to that era since Hamilton joined the squad this season.
