Ferguson returns to Misfits Boxing ring to face soccer-star-turned-fighter Biyong on Sept. 26

Former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson will step back into the Misfits Boxing ring on September 26, facing former professional soccer player Kenzo Biyong in a five-round boxing match at the James L. Knight Center in Miami. The bout is scheduled for the undercard of the event’s headline clash between Henry Cejudo and Nurideen Shabazz, also known as “Deen the Great.”

Ferguson enters the fight with a 2-0 record under the Misfits banner, combining one professional win and one exhibition victory. His most recent boxing outing came last December, when he defeated Warren Spencer by unanimous decision. In between, Ferguson also tested himself in wrestling, losing to Arman Tsarukyan by technical fall at Real American Freestyle.

Biyong, 28, arrives at the matchup as a striking novice, though he is not without combat-sports experience. The former soccer professional made his grappling debut at UFC BJJ 7 in April, where he was submitted by Raphael Ferreira. The Ferguson fight will mark his first time competing in a striking format.

The September 26 card carries additional intrigue beyond the main event. A heavyweight bout between Chase DeMoor and Plinio Cruz — one of UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Alex Pereira’s trainers — is also on the bill, adding a notable name from the broader combat-sports world to the undercard.
