Spanish actress Ester Expósito spoke at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival about the unprecedented media exposure she has experienced since being spotted alongside Kylian Mbappé, captain of the France national team. It was the first time she has publicly commented on the subject, as the couple has never officially discussed their relationship.
Known for the series Elite, the actress admits that media pressure has changed in nature. “I’m somewhat used to being in the press, it’s been that way since the Elite series. Not at this level, obviously. But I know it’s part of my work, we’re in the media,” she told Monaco-Matin. What concerns her more is the democratization of surveillance: “The only problem is that now everyone can be a paparazzi. There are phones everywhere and I would like to live in a different world without phones, without social media. I try my best to protect my private life and I don’t want to expose it any more than it already is.”
When asked by Le Parisien, Expósito acknowledged her lack of knowledge about football, an world she says she is gradually discovering. “I don’t know anything about football. I’ve only been to the stadium very few times in my life. At home, nobody watched matches on television. Even though Spain is a major football country and we have the best teams obviously, I don’t have that culture. It’s a world I’m discovering and with this film about football, everything is happening at the same time. So I’m starting to take an interest in it.”
While Mbappé competes in the World Cup with the France team in the United States, the actress hinted that she could travel there soon, without elaborating further on her intentions.
