PSG will be without Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes on Saturday at Parc des Princes for the sixth matchday of Ligue 1 against Le Mans. The Paris club confirmed the decision on Thursday in a statement.

« In agreement with the coach and the sporting director, Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes are benefiting from a rest period. They will respectively resume training on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11 », PSG stated. The two players will therefore not be available for the resumption of the championship.

Dembélé played all four UEFA Nations League matches for Zinédine Zidane’s France team during the international break. Although he played only 22 minutes during the trip to Belgium before logging an hour of play on the return to Stade de France against the same Belgian side, Luis Enrique preferred to take no risks with his Ballon d’Or winner, who appeared uncomfortable during this international window.

Nuno Mendes was even more heavily used: the Portuguese left-back accumulated 350 minutes out of 360 possible with his national team. A workload that justifies, according to PSG’s sporting direction, an extra day of rest compared to his French teammate.

This cautious management illustrates PSG’s policy during post-break resumptions, a traditionally delicate period for a club whose squad is among the most exposed to international demands.
