De Zerbi targets Savinho and Summerville in Tottenham's summer attacking rebuild
Roberto De Zerbi has outlined plans to overhaul Tottenham's attack this summer after securing Premier League survival, with Manchester City winger Savinho and relegated West Ham forward Crysencio Summerville among his reported targets.
Roberto De Zerbi has set out his vision for a major summer rebuild at Tottenham after the club secured Premier League survival with a 1-0 win over Everton last Sunday — a result that simultaneously sent West Ham down to the Championship.
The Italian manager, who claimed three wins from his opening seven matches in charge, was candid about the scale of change required at Spurs. He identified a core group of around 12 players worth retaining but made clear that significant reinforcements were needed across the squad. “From tonight, we have to start to organise and to build a new team,” De Zerbi said after the Everton win. “I think we have now to change too many players. We have 10, 11, 12 players good enough to stay. Good enough. Like players. Especially like people. And then we have to complete the squad with the first level of players.”
He added: “My target is to start the pre-season with the team I have in my dream.”
Attack is the most pressing area for improvement. The forward trio of Richarlison, Mathys Tel and Randal Kolo Muani managed a combined total of just 15 Premier League goals across the entire season, a return that underlines why De Zerbi is looking to bring in new options.
According to the Daily Mail, one player he is pursuing is Manchester City winger Savinho. The 22-year-old Brazilian was the subject of approaches from Spurs last summer, but Pep Guardiola kept him at the Etihad after failing to find a suitable replacement. Savinho contributed just one league goal this season, though Spurs see him as a potential solution on the right flank given fitness concerns surrounding Dejan Kulusevski and Mohammed Kudus. City are reported to be demanding £60 million for the attacker — double the fee they paid Girona for his signature in 2024.
Another name linked with a move to north London is Crysencio Summerville. The Dutch winger suffered his second Premier League relegation — having previously gone down with Leeds in 2023 — but showed his quality earlier in the campaign by scoring in four consecutive league matches for West Ham. According to Voetbal International, De Zerbi is keen to bring Summerville to Spurs, with Gazzetta dello Sport also reporting interest in the 23-year-old.
If Tottenham were to land both Savinho and Summerville alongside their existing forward options, the combined outlay on attacking reinforcements could approach £110 million — a significant statement of intent from a club that spent much of the season battling to stay in the top flight.
