Daniel Marcos confirms PFL signing after surprise UFC release with 5-1 record
Peruvian bantamweight Daniel Marcos has signed with the Professional Fighters League after being released by the UFC, where he went 5-1 with one no contest. Marcos confirmed the move on Instagram, though PFL has yet to make a formal announcement.
Daniel Marcos is returning to competition under the Professional Fighters League banner, the 33-year-old Peruvian bantamweight confirmed on Instagram following his surprise release from the UFC, where he compiled a 5-1 record with one no contest.
Marcas made the announcement himself before PFL issued any formal statement. “Grateful to God for this new phase. Thanks to PFL for the trust and Jason House for the work that makes these moments possible,” he wrote. “The signing is just the beginning. My language has always been the same: discipline, pressure and violence. The rest is just words. See you all soon.”
The signing comes shortly after Marcos closed out his UFC tenure on a strong note. His most recent appearance came at UFC Fight Night 264 in November, where he submitted Miles Johns in the second round. Over the course of his UFC contract, Marcos also defeated Saimon Oliveira, Davey Grant, John Castaneda, and Adrian Yanez — a run that established him as a credible contender in the 135-pound division.
Marcas first came to the UFC’s attention through Dana White’s Contender Series in September 2022. Across 20 professional bouts in total, he has lost just once, making his release one of the more unexpected roster cuts the promotion has made in recent memory.
No date has been set for his PFL debut.
