Dana White confirms UFC quietly resolved altercation involving Namo Fazil during Contender Series fight week

UFC president Dana White confirmed at the UFC Sacramento post-fight press conference that the promotion dealt with a serious incident involving Namo Fazil during fight week for the Dana White’s Contender Series, though he declined to reveal specific details of what took place.

Fazil had alleged the previous week that he was confronted by a group of Chechens while preparing for his Contender Series bout against Kaik Brito. He claimed the incident disrupted his weight cut, escalated into a physical altercation, and ultimately drew police attention.

White addressed the matter directly when pressed by reporters, stopping short of naming names or confirming the specifics of Fazil’s account. “You guys have no idea how much sh*t goes on in this business behind the scenes and I said at the press conference that we had kind of a weird week here,” White said.

White was also asked whether UFC fighter Baisangur Susurkaev — who had hinted at his own involvement in the incident — would face any consequences. The UFC president indicated the matter had been resolved without public disclosure. “I didn’t even talk about it,” White said. “You guys wouldn’t even know if he didn’t talk about it. We handled it behind the scenes and that’s the business we’re in. Lots of crazy sh*t happens every day in this business.”

Fazil went on to lose his Contender Series bout against Brito via knockout. The result was subsequently celebrated online by several fighters, among them former UFC champion Khamzat Chimaev.
