Crystal Palace come from behind to hand Glasner a 3-1 defeat on his Selhurst Park return
Crystal Palace overturned an early deficit to beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Selhurst Park on Sunday, with goals from Daichi Kamada, Jefferson Lerma and Yeremy Pino sealing a first home Premier League win for manager Pierre Sage.
Crystal Palace came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Selhurst Park on Sunday, handing former manager Oliver Glasner a defeat on his first return to the ground he left in the summer.
Dan Ndoye gave Forest a third-minute lead after intercepting a wayward header from Anan Khalaili intended for goalkeeper Walter Benitez, firing into the far corner. The visitors dominated much of the opening half, with Jorgen Strand Larsen, Quinten Timber and Morgan Gibbs-White all going close, and Liam Delap denied from point-blank range by a scrambling Benitez.
That profligacy proved costly. Daichi Kamada drew Palace level in the 41st minute, slotting home after a neat backheel from Timber — a goal confirmed by VAR — for his first Premier League strike. Jefferson Lerma then nodded the hosts in front in first-half stoppage time, and Yeremy Pino added a third just before the hour to put the result beyond doubt.
The victory was the first home Premier League win for Palace boss Pierre Sage, appointed after Glasner departed in the summer following a turbulent period between the clubs. Glasner had led Palace to the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League before leaving to join Forest, a move that surprised many given the legal tensions arising from Palace’s demotion to the Conference League ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Glasner and returning right-back Daniel Munoz were given a largely warm reception by the home support, though a chorus of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” rang around Selhurst Park in the closing minutes.
Forest’s inability to convert their first-half dominance into goals ultimately defined the afternoon. Gibbs-White struck the underside of the crossbar, Delap was denied twice, and Ndoye — who had scored the opener — was kept out by an excellent Benitez reaction save from a header. By the time Palace found their rhythm, Forest had run out of answers.
