Andros Townsend was struck by a steamroller during warm-ups before the Thai league match between his club PT Prachuap FC and Pattani FC. The machine, which was being used to flatten the pitch, literally rolled over the body of the former England international.

The operator, apparently distracted, did not see the former winger for Tottenham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Everton warming up in his path. The steamroller thus passed over his body, in full view of spectators present.

At 35 years old and with 13 caps for England (3 goals), Townsend escaped with bruising to his hip and thigh. After receiving clearance from the medical staff, he was even able to enter the game during added time.
