Cristianinho called up for first time with Portugal U17 at 16
Cristiano Ronaldo Junior, 16, has been called up to Portugal's under-17 squad for the first time for Euro U17 qualifying. CR7's son already has 13 caps and 5 goals across youth categories.
Cristiano Ronaldo Junior joins Portugal’s U17 squad for the first time in his career. Coach Filipe Ramos has selected the 16-year-old striker among the 23 players called up for the next Euro under-17 qualifying gathering.
The news comes roughly a month after his father, Cristiano Ronaldo, publicly expressed his displeasure at not seeing his son called up to the national team, according to Portuguese newspaper Record. The 41-year-old Al-Nassr striker can now show his satisfaction.
Nicknamed “Cristianinho”, CR7’s eldest son made his international debut in May 2025. He has 13 caps across all youth categories — four with the U15s and nine with the U16s — for a tally of five goals. He usually plays in Al-Nassr’s youth teams in Saudi Arabia, his father’s club.
This call-up to the U17s will give him increased visibility on the European stage. Portugal will face Andorra on November 11, Bulgaria on November 14, then Serbia on November 17 in these qualifying matches.
