Cong Wang has revealed that an eye poke suffered in the opening round severely impaired her vision during her unanimous decision loss to Natalia Silva at UFC 332, held at Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

Wang (10-2) challenged for the vacant women’s flyweight title in the main event but fell short against Silva (21-5-1), who claimed the belt on all three judges’ scorecards. In an Instagram video posted after the fight, Wang showed what she described as a scratch on her right eye and explained how the injury had disrupted her performance from an early stage.

“The game is lost; what a pity,” Wang said. “I have some regrets then because of the first round. The eye was poked in the second half. The line of sight is blocked, and then I couldn’t see it when I was poked in the right eye in the first round. Wait until later to slow down; it’s too slow to enter. Where to fall, get up, go back, and summarize yourself. Come on, try again.”

Wang visibly struggled to find her rhythm for much of the contest, only beginning to impose herself in the later rounds — a pattern she attributed directly to the vision impairment. The defeat ended a four-fight winning streak that had included victories over Tracy Cortez and Eduarda Moura, and had positioned her as a credible contender for the flyweight crown.

Silva, meanwhile, claimed the vacant title in convincing fashion, with the judges’ verdict reflecting her control across the majority of the fight. Wang’s post-fight comments suggest she intends to return to competition, signing off her video with a message of self-reflection and resolve.
