Champions League: Lille drawn with Bayern Munich and Arsenal in league phase
Lille have been handed a demanding draw in the Champions League league phase, with fixtures against Arsenal in London and a home tie against Bayern Munich, who will field Harry Kane and Michael Olise.
Lille know their eight opponents in the Champions League league phase following Thursday’s draw. The northern club has inherited a tough group, featuring two major clashes against Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Davide Ancelotti’s side will first travel to London to face Arsenal, before hosting Bayern Munich at home. The Bavarian powerhouse will arrive with Harry Kane and Michael Olise in their ranks, two signings who have significantly strengthened the German club in recent seasons.
The rest of the draw also offers quality fixtures. Lille will travel to Italy to face AS Roma, and will host Real Betis. The schedule also includes a long trip to Norway to face Bodo/Glimt, a visit from Galatasaray, an away trip to Germany against Stuttgart, and finally a home match against Slovan Bratislava, currently managed by Yaya Touré.
Two years after their exploits against Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid in the previous European campaign, Lille return to the continental stage with an ambitious calendar, dominated by two heavyweights among the favorites for the final. The order and precise dates of the matches will be communicated by UEFA by Saturday.
