Bug the Brussels Griffon correctly predicted England's 4-2 World Cup win over Croatia
A Brussels Griffon named Bug has gone viral on Instagram after his owner filmed him picking England to beat Croatia — a prediction that proved spot on as the Three Lions won 4-2 on June 17.
A dog named Bug has become an unlikely World Cup pundit after correctly predicting England’s 4-2 opening victory over Croatia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 17.
Bug, a Brussels Griffon with over 49,000 Instagram followers on his @bugthebrusselsgriffon account, was filmed by his owner sitting in front of two miniature footballs — one bearing an England flag, the other a Croatian flag. Dressed in an England shirt, Bug touched the England ball, signalling his pick for the winner.
His owner posted the clip before the match with the caption: “My dog predicts World Cup match results: ENGLAND VS CROATIA. Posting this today as it is my Magnus Opus. Bug has made the call.”
The prediction proved accurate. Harry Kane scored twice — including a retaken penalty — while Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford also got on the scoresheet as England launched their World Cup campaign with a commanding win.
The video has since racked up more than 29,000 likes, with fans quick to celebrate Bug’s apparent forecasting ability. “Absolutely iconic,” wrote one viewer. “He was right,” added another, while a third commented: “Yay, Bug. You are really good at this.”
Bug’s account bills the dog as specialising in “modelling, acting and sports commentating” — a description that now carries a little more credibility. England’s next group fixture is against Ghana on Tuesday, June 23.
