Bournemouth open to £100m Alex Scott sale as Liverpool and Chelsea circle in January
Bournemouth are willing to sell 23-year-old midfielder Alex Scott for around £100m in the January window, with Chelsea and Liverpool among the clubs monitoring the England international, who is currently sidelined with a thigh injury.
Bournemouth are prepared to sell Alex Scott in the January transfer window if a bid in the region of £100m arrives, according to BBC Sport, with Chelsea and Liverpool both tracking the 23-year-old England midfielder.
Scott had already attracted interest from Chelsea in the summer, but Bournemouth held firm and kept the former Bristol City man despite him rejecting two contract extensions. The club’s stance has now shifted, though a significant caveat remains: if Bournemouth find themselves deep in a relegation battle, they may opt to retain Scott through the second half of the season and revisit a sale in the summer.
Liverpool’s interest is understood to be partly driven by the presence of Andoni Iraola at Anfield — the manager who worked closely with Scott during his time on the South Coast. Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham were all credited with interest during the summer window but have since moved on to other targets.
Scott joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 and has contributed seven goals in 95 appearances across all competitions. He is currently sidelined with a thigh injury sustained on international duty with England, with Bournemouth head coach Marco Rose estimating a four-to-five-week absence at the time of the setback.
“We’re going to miss him, for sure, for four or five weeks,” Rose said. “I’m very disappointed and it’s a big loss. We miss a very important player. We are very happy that he made his debut for the English national team. He did well and we just hope that he is getting fit again quite soon.”
Scott’s contract at the Vitality Stadium runs until the summer of 2028, giving Bournemouth strong leverage in any negotiation. A sale would continue a pattern of high-value departures from the club in recent seasons — Dominic Solanke, Antoine Semenyo, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez among those who have left for significant fees, helping Bournemouth generate a substantial transfer profit over that period.
