Djamel Belmadi has been named October manager of the month by Qatar Stars League. The former Algeria national team coach, who returned to Qatar in 2025 to take charge of Al-Duhail, impressed the league authorities with a perfect record of four wins in four matches.

The highlight of this run was the victory secured away at Al-Sadd (3-2), the defending champions, which illustrates Al-Duhail’s rising momentum. These results allowed Al-Duhail to climb to the top of the standings, where it shares the lead with Al-Sadd and Al-Rayyan after eight matchdays, each with 18 points.

The QSL praised in a statement Belmadi’s “impressive impact”. The 50-year-old won the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 with Algeria and is a former Olympique de Marseille player. His ability to quickly establish collective momentum makes him one of the most prominent coaches in the competition at the start of this season.

Belmadi was not the only one honored for October. Moroccan midfielder Amin Zouhzouh (Al-Wakrah) won the player of the month award, while Brazilian striker Giovani Henrique (Al-Sadd) was named best player under 23. The team of the month was also revealed, notably featuring Tuta, Sultan Al-Breik and Bassam Al-Rawi from Al-Duhail, Pablo Sarabia and Ahmed Fathy (Al-Arabi), as well as Jacinto Dala and Essa Laidouni (Al-Wakrah).
