Jude Bellingham scored a brace — his 5th and 6th goals of the tournament — to propel England to the semi-final of the 2026 World Cup at Norway’s expense (1-2 a.e.t.), Saturday evening in Miami. The Three Lions will face Argentina on Wednesday (21:00) for a place in the final.

The feat could have turned into a nightmare: the Real Madrid midfielder was under threat of automatic suspension if shown a yellow card against the Vikings. He avoided it, and he knows who to credit for part of the merit.

“My mother has been telling me for a week to be careful with my language, my tackles, my expression, my emotions,” Bellingham said at the post-match press conference. “She’s been hammering it into me all week to watch out for the yellow card.”

The English number 10 also praised the match’s refereeing. “Honestly, when you play well — and credit to the referee, he was excellent — when I find the right balance and there’s a referee who listens, it makes things much easier.”

Bellingham concluded with restraint: “In the end, it was simply a very competitive football match and fortunately, we managed to win it.”

Available for the semi-final, he will be the cornerstone of England’s setup against Lionel Messi’s Albiceleste. The winner of this clash will face France or Spain in the final on Sunday, July 19.
