Belal Muhammad weighs in at 170.5 lbs for UFC Vegas 118 return against Bonfim
Belal Muhammad tips the scales at 170.5 pounds ahead of his UFC Vegas 118 main event against Gabriel Bonfim on Saturday. One fighter, Junior Tafa, missed weight by half a pound and will face a financial penalty.
Belal Muhammad (24-5, 1 NC) successfully made weight at 170.5 pounds on Friday, clearing the path for his welterweight main event against Gabriel Bonfim at UFC Vegas 118 in Las Vegas on June 7. Bonfim also weighed in at 170.5, though light heavyweight prospect Junior Tafa came in half a pound over his contracted limit and will be fined a percentage of his purse.
Muhammad steps into the cage for the first time in 2026 looking to end a two-fight losing streak. The 37-year-old’s only defeats since 2019 have come against Jack Della Maddalena and Ian Garry, and he remains widely regarded as one of the elite fighters at 170 pounds despite those back-to-back setbacks.
For Bonfim, Saturday night represents the biggest stage of his career. The Brazilian (19-1) has won four consecutive fights since dropping his professional debut to Nicolas Dalby in 2023, with recent victories over Stephen Thompson by split decision and a knockout of Randy Brown underlining his rapid rise. UFC Vegas 118 marks his second UFC main event.
Edmen Shahbazyan was the only other fighter to miss the standard limit, coming in at 186 pounds for his middleweight bout against Brendan Allen, who weighed 185.5. All other fighters on the card made weight without issue.
