Rodri has joined Barcelona from Manchester City in a £65.4million transfer, the Spanish club confirmed on Tuesday, with the midfielder committing to a four-year contract running until 30 June 2030.

The 28-year-old completed his medical before the deal was formally announced, ending a seven-season spell at the Etihad Stadium. “Barcelona and Manchester City have reached an agreement for Rodri, who is committing to the Catalan club until June 30 2030,” read a statement from the LaLiga champions.

Rodri departs City as one of the most decorated players of the club’s modern era. During his time in Manchester he won the Premier League title on four occasions and scored the decisive goal in their 2023 Champions League final victory over Inter Milan.

His move to the Camp Nou follows a summer in which he was named player of the tournament as Spain won the World Cup, cementing his status as one of the finest defensive midfielders in the world. Barcelona, who claimed the LaLiga title last season, have moved swiftly to add him to their squad ahead of the new campaign.
