Antonelli takes pole for Mercedes at 2026 United States Grand Prix
Kimi Antonelli secured pole position for Mercedes at the 2026 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, heading a provisional grid that features Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar on the front two rows. Grid penalties await Lindblad, Colapinto, and Bortoleto.
Kimi Antonelli claimed pole position for Mercedes at the 2026 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, topping the qualifying order ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar. Charles Leclerc lines up fourth on the provisional grid, which remains subject to final FIA validation.
The front row sees Antonelli lead Verstappen, with Hadjar — also on Red Bull machinery — slotting into third. The young Italian’s pole marks a significant qualifying performance for Mercedes as the 2026 season continues.
Further down the order, three drivers face grid penalties before the race gets underway. Arvid Lindblad, Franco Colapinto, and Gabriel Bortoleto are all set to drop places, which could shuffle the running order considerably and open up opportunities for those starting behind them on the road.
The provisional grid is pending its final validation by the FIA, meaning positions could still shift before the formation lap.
